Gatlinburg, Tenn., gutted by series of wildfires

A popular tourist town in Tennessee has become the next North American region to be ravaged by wildfires. Gatlinburg, a mountain resort town southeast of Knoxville, has fallen victim to severe fire causing hundreds of thousands of people to evacuate their homes.

  1. Several American media outlets have been reporting on the dangerous wildfires that have forced people out of their homes and businesses.
  2. Although not a lot is known so far about the fires, it's believed to be the cause of residents in the area.
  3. Many of the images coming out of Gatlinburg are haunting. The photos show severe damage throughout the area.

  7. A number of people took detours out of Gatlinburg to survey the damage, and it wasn't pretty.

  9. And while the damage is severe, many people are comparing to the wildfires that ravaged Fort McMurray earlier in the year.
  10. So far, more than 150 homes and businesses have been destroyed by the fires, including Gatlinburg's mayor's house.
  11. While the fire continued to burn, it was confirmed that among the 14 deaths were two Canadians.
  12. As the fire continued to be investigated, it was found that two minors allegedly started the fires and are now charges with aggravated arson.
