  1. Congrats to Morgan Shields who received a 2017 Harvard Rappaport Institute Summer Public Policy Fellowship. Morgan says, "I am thrilled to have the opportunity to support the work of Massachusetts House Representative Kay Khan, who has been a champion for compassionate behavioral health service provision. I will aim to produce two policy briefs. The first brief will support a new piece of legislation focused on strengthening community mental healthcare. I will research the evidence base and propose policy recommendations with the input of Rep. Khan. The second policy brief is self-directed and stems from both my research and policy work. I will take a deep dive into Massachusetts' systems for monitoring critical incidences (e..g, abuse and neglect) and quality within inpatient psychiatric facilities and perhaps community settings. I will then produce some policy recommendations. As a PhD student, I am eager to see how research is translated into policy initiatives and eventually law, as well as how constituents organize their voices to create impact." #HellerHustle #HellerAtWork #HellerSchool #BrandeisUniversity
