Connected and/or Protected #uscopro

The growth in online social networking and accompanying technologies have transformed the way we live, work and relate. 'Connected and/or Protected' aimed to explore the challenges and opportunities that the digital world presents to social work.

  1. The Technology Enhanced Learning Team supported the event and helped to create a TweetBeam 'wall' of Tweets under the hashtag #uscopro. This provided a visual wall of Tweets -  http://www.tweetbeam.com/show?id=4VOVJ&nbsp ;
  2. The event was accessible online in real time thanks to Adobe Connected and the work of Heather Stanley, Communications Officer for Department of Social Work.  
  3. Guest speakers:

    - Jim Rogers, Senior Lecturer in the School of Health and Social Care at the University of Lincoln

    - Brian James, Head of Assurance and Development within the Fitness to Practice department of the Health and Care Professionals Council

    - Alfie Deyes, Vlogger who runs YouTube channel PointlessBlog with over 2 million subscribers (apologies due to sickness). 
  4. A successful event which provided the opportunity to debate social media and social work. This debate will be extended by the Department of Social Work in a future paper.
