Suarez, Moyes, Clattenburg...Super Sunday

It always promised to be an exciting Sunday afternoon of football with the Merseyside derby and the Premier League's top two meeting...but very few people expected it to have quite so many talking points...

  1. First up was the Merseyside derby between Liverpool and Everton at Goodison Park.
  2. Before the game, Everton boss David Moyes had made reference to Luis Suarez's perceived habit of diving and it was fitting that Suarez would be involved early on...
  3. Liverpool took the lead as Suarez's shot hit Leighton Baines and went in.  Cue a mock dive celebration from the Uruguayan in front of the Everton manager...

  5. David Moyes didn't react to the situation, but his daughter Lauren had her say on Twitter! Her tweet was praised by some, not by others...
  6. She later apologised and removed the tweet.  The drama didn't stop there though...Suarez scored again to put Liverpool 2-0 up before goals from Leon Osman and Steven Naismith brought Everton level.
  7. Then the diving debate was reignited.  Not by Suarez, though, a slightly more unlikely source...
  8. It wasn't long before Suarez was back in the action as he thought he'd scored late on before being wrongly ruled offside.

  10. Soon after the final whistle at Goodison, attentions turned to the clash between Chelsea and Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.  The game started at a high tempo and was already looking like a classic when the first goal came after just three minutes.
  11. Minutes later, Robin van Persie made it 2-0 to the visitors...
