Social media reaction to Sigma FC's big day at the MLS SuperDaft

History was made when TFC selected to members of our academy in the MLS SuperDraft, Kyle Bekker at No.3 became the highest Canadian ever selected in league history, and Emery Welshman was nabbed by Toronto at No. 16. Here is how it all went down

  1. Sigma FC had a full team in Indianapolis to support Kyle and Emery. Technical Director Bobby Smyrniotis and Academy Managing Director Costa Smyrniotis were on hand. Coaches John Zervos and Philip Opassinis were in town taking part in coaching courses and were able to attend both the combine and SuperDraft
  2. Toronto FC did a great job of focusing in on the Canadians at the draft
  3. After New England selected Louisville's Andrew Farrell, and Chivas USA took UConn's Carlos Alvarez, MLS Commissioner Don Garber stepped up to the microphone and made history.
  4. Once that hit the airwaves, congratulations poured in from all corners of the Sigma FC universe
  5. Bekker took a call from his soon-to-be head coach, Ryan Nelsen from Queen's Park Rangers
  6. The Toronto soccer media started buzzing
  7. Then Sigma players started tweeting their support.
  8. And when TFC selected Emery, the comments really started to come rolling in
