Create Your World | Scratch@MIT 2012

Scratch@MIT 2012 was the third biennial conference that took place July 25-29, 2012 at the MIT Media Lab. Over 400 educators, researchers, developers, and other members of the Scratch community representing 31 countries gathered to share their experiences and imagine the possibilities of Scratch.

Upon arrival, attendees received an interactive booklet that was part-program, part-notebook/workbook/design journal/sketchbook/cahier/etc. The program included a copy of the schedule in addition to interspersed images and blank space for recording notes and reflections throughout the four days of the conference.

A large, wall-sized program was also constructed in the main gathering area to give conference goers an at-a-glance perspective on what to look forward to next in the agenda. The conference program was structured as three sets of one-hour concurrent sessions including presentations, workshops, and self-organized sessions.

  12. Across from the "living program", a wall painted in whiteboard paint became a central message board for capturing informal jottings, facilitating conference connections, and exhibiting beautiful Scratch Cat drawings!
