The Story of a Hard Working Organelle Called The Endoplasmic Reticulum!

This is the story all about the organelle the Endoplasmic Reticulum that's part of the organelle wars. This project was created for the Organelle Election Campaign 2012, a class campaigning project organized by Mr. Graba. Find us on twitter @Reticulum_Rocks!

  1. Besties! We work together with the Golgi Body and share chemical products! @Wholly4Golgi
  2. On October 17th, Mr.Graba assigned a project we now all know as the Organelle wars. Two young girls took a piece of paper out a bowl that read "Rough and Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum". This was the organelle they were going to campaign for. It was fate that brought these two girls together with the best organelle in the whole cell.

The girls started the race off right by making a twitter account. They named it @Reticulum_Rocks because, in their opinion, it does rock!!! And that's when they began tweeting away...
  3. They posted clever, witty, and humorous tweets...
  4. if anybody needs an incentive to vote for us, the Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum looks like an M&M cookie... *ahem* #hint
  5. The ER is up and away after a long night of saving your cells and keeping you alive! #votereticulum2012 #organellewars
  6. Just going to point out that we make most of the membrane for the other organelles... #alwaysthereforya #votereticulum2012
  7. And became so popular that other people even tweeted about them...
  8. This morning I was pretty happy to have my sER…. Last night involved tequila. #organellewars
  9. #organellewars is cracking me up!! love the warring banter vying for cellular control!! keep it coming!!
  10. They created a wonderful campaign video:
  11. They posted some funny pictures...
  12. They even made paraphernalia...
  13. The neon yellow campaign poster:
  14. At one point, they even started launching campaigns against organelles:
  15. Many people taught the girls a lot during their project, including scientists from AROUND THE WORLD! They learned a lot of things about organelles and even about campaigning, and would like to give a great big THANK YOU to everyone who was involved in organelle wars, whether through twitter or somewhere else.
  16. Next time someone says you can't make science fun, tell them about HS students who tweeted about organelles all weekend! #organellewars
