Thank you to everyone who joined us in Baltimore for PPMD’s 2013 Annual Connect Conference!
While the extensive agenda, research presentations, break-out sessions, and interactions with industry leaders were all an incredible part of this year's conference, the highlight for the PPMD staff was being able to connect and reconnect with all of you – our awe inspiring community.
We are a community of fiercely passionate people. And at PPMD we are confident that we – you, us – will continue to make the impossible, possible. Together we will end Duchenne.
On Wednesday, we hosted a pre-conference meeting with 41 experts (including parents and young adults with Duchenne) to discuss transition & Duchenne.
The theme for this year's Connect Conference was "Better, Faster, Now." Thursday focused on making life BETTER... Knowing more, being educated, knowing what to look for, what to ask, and where to go.
- One of Thursday's highlights was the Expert Panel. We asked seven young men with Duchenne: What is independence? The audio recording of this discussion is available on the 2013 Connect Conference Presentation page. We hope to have video posted soon as well!
Friday was all about moving FASTER... Understanding research, advocacy, and other elements that will help move the field faster.
- We staged an interactive mock review panel to provide an example of how Duchenne research is presented for review and offer insight and a behind the scenes look at the complexity of review.
- And while the adults were busy learning, the kids met up in Kids Track! We divided into three groups: 5-8, 9-12, and 13 & up, and had a blast!
On Saturday, we listened to 21 (!) presentations on all that is happening NOW, and how it impacts the Duchenne community.
A staple of each Connect Conference has become our conference guide featuring clinical trial updates for all Duchenne and Becker related trials, from those currently recruiting to pre-clinical, and everything in between. You can view these sheets on DuchenneConnect. Presentation PDFs and Audio files are also available on the 2013 Connect Conference Presentation page!
- We also could not talk about what is happening NOW, without celebrating YOU – all those who are making it possible!
