Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) won't be crossing the Key Bridge from D.C. into Virginia any time soon, but at least a few Northern Virginia residents are happy to defend their home.
In an excerpt from her new book released on Tuesday, titled "Off the Sidelines," Gillibrand ignited the age-old Beltway feud between Arlington and D.C. residents by calling the small county a "soulless suburb." She describes her husband's aversion to the District, writing
, "We lived in a soulless suburb. It wasn't the right place for us, and we needed a change....Eventually we moved from Arlington, Virginia, to Capitol Hill, and Jonathan found a job he liked."
