TODO Group and Why Good Codes of Conduct Are Important

It appeared that TODO Group did the right thing in adding in good provisions to their Code of Conduct, now, after bad faith criticism, they seem to be backing away.

  1. Early last week TODO Group mostly rectified the errors myself and others pointed out.
  2. But yesterday, a series of issues an PR's were closed, most of them issued by people complaining that by being asked to treat people of color, queer people, trans people, women, and the people at the intersections of those identities with respect, they were somehow being oppressed.
  3. So I wrote on Twitter more broadly on the need for clear Codes of Conduct that protect the people that would face the most violence.
