- International Women's Day — March 8 — is just one day out of 366 this year.
- If you are keen for Russia's successful, outspoken and talented women to provide you with inspiration year-round, try following them on Instagram.
- We have compiled a sampling of accounts guaranteed to inject your Instagram feed with female fierceness.
1. Belonika
#belonikaandchefs- You can't walk into a Russian bookshop without seeing Nika Belotserkovskaya's cookbooks. Whether you like pasta, meat dishes or French cuisine, this successful foodie and entrepreneur has written a book on it, usually featuring her on the cover.
- And it's not just fancy food she likes. She can get just as excited over something as quintessentially Russian as a load of pickled cucumbers.
на самом то деле - все, конечно, выглядит так #бездуховнаяжизнь в @beliysad ) но вы же не хотите завтра кричать от встречи с Автором Популярным ) @beliysad- @Belonika, her Instagram account, also shows off her sense of humor. On a platform that can, at its worst, turn into an endless list of "here are my new shoes" and "look at my latest manicure," Belotserkovskaya's doesn't mind showing the work that goes into looking this good.
2. Povzner
- Katerina Povzner coordinates exhibitions at Moscow's Pechersky Gallery, so be prepared for loads of images that relate to the art scene, both in Russia and abroad.
- Sometimes it's a backstage view as an exhibition begins to take shape, sometimes it's images like these that play with what does or doesn't constitute Art. And if you find yourself guessing whether something is staged or accidental, art imitating life or the other way round – well, that's the point.
3. yulia_navalnaya
- She may not be a frequent Instagram user, but when Yulia Navalnaya shares a picture, it strikes a chord. More than just the wife and supporter of Alexei Navalny, @yulia_navalnaya has come under official scrutiny herself.
Что-то последнее время все полюбили фотографировать меня с полузакрытыми глазами🙈🙈- Her photos bear witness to how taking a stand against Russia's ruling elite effects the private life of the Navalnys. Simultaneously, we also get glimpses into their family life. In 2015, Yulia Navalnaya was included on a list of Russia's 100 most influential women.
4. Kashaiztopora
- You'll rarely see Yulia Gridneva, the woman behind this account, in her pictures. Instead, she wants you to focus on the Russian dish she has set out to promote: kasha.
- A porridge frequently, but not exclusively made from buckwheat, kasha is the go-to breakfast dish in many Russian households. You can add fruit, nuts, raisins – but your concoction will probably not end up looking as perfectly styled as the ones posted by @kashaiztopora.
