Media Impact Focus: Design Thinking Philanthropy

Our Media Impact Focus explored how philanthropy can embrace the process of designing for social change through experimentation, innovation, testing, iteration and scale. We had some of the best minds in the field join us at the at Stanford.

  1. Getting started - welcome from @VinceDaily with a nice reminder about innovation and experimentation. You don't always know what you're creating, or how it will change the field (and the world). See Eadweard Muybridge's film - the first ever recorded (on the Stanford campus no less, 135 years ago).
  2. Emily Pilloton of Studio H Design kicks off the morning session with an exploration of the film If You Build It, her work in rural and urban schools, inspiring young girls and her insights on the power of design.
  3. Kurt Collins of Youth Radio offered a great update on the projects and programs they are focusing on, and changes underway to reflect the future. Simply put, Youth Radio experiments, explores, partners, and iterates to keep moving forward.
