Fast Food Quality

  1.                   Do you like Taco Bell, McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Popeye’s or any of the many other fast food restaurants?  Many people eat fast food without wondering or caring about the quality or what it is made of.  Everyone eats fast food because it’s cheap, tastes good, and it’s convenient.  Fast food is unhealthy, yet addicting. People don’t know what they’re really eating, like what’s in the food; often people wonder why it’s so cheap? Why can you get so much for so less? People also don’t care about what it’s doing to their body and or know just how unhealthy it is.

                    The food at fast food restaurants are precooked, then warmed up or thrown back on the grill before serving.  McDonald’s chicken nuggets have whatever is left over from the chicken thrown into this huge metal machine and is mixed with all the other stuff like: beaks, feet, some chicken, food coloring, food flavoring and other ingredients. Chicken nuggets are not really what they seem to be. A woman once found a whole chicken head in her chicken nugget box before.
  2.              “You cannot be surprised to find out that each chicken nugget is only 44% chicken. Those nasty chemicals, cheap corn products, and salt make up the rest of it.” (Diethealth) The nuggets are made from this pink goop that basically looks like a huge wod of gum. People are eating unhealthy, unsafe things in their chicken nuggets without even knowing. If people knew what McDonald's chicken nuggets were made of, there would be thousands less people eating there. Places like Chik-Fil-A are much better though. It's 100% real chicken and more healthy.
  3.               The cheeseburgers from McDonald’s are just as bad and their burgers are worse than any other fast food restaurant there is. We can’t really be sure what we’re eating when it comes to the cheeseburgers. After a 4-year test with a single McDonald’s cheeseburger being left out, the only thing that happened to it was the bread hardened. If a burger can with stand 4 whole years without anything changing, do you think it’s good for you? Would you really want to be feeding that to your child? The only healthy thing you can buy from McDonald’s is water. Parents feed their children unhealthy and fattening foods like McDonald’s every day.  Children are oblivious and don’t care. If they like it, the parents will just keep giving it to them to make them happy. Adults have the problem of thinking, well it’s too late now. “McDonald's this week confirmed that its French fries are prepared with beef extract, a disclosure the company said is not new.” (Sanders) Many facts have been proven that McDonald's food is not pure, or real. Nothing about it is good.

  5.               It’s crazy how cheap fast food is as well. If you go to any nice sit down restaurant that does not have a drive through you will not find anything cheaper than the drinks which are still more than some things you can buy at fast food places. “Fast food restaurants are popular because they serve filling foods that taste good and don't cost a lot of money. However, fast food is usually cheap because it's often made with cheaper ingredients such as high fat meat, refined grains, and added sugar and fats, instead of nutritious foods such as lean meats, fresh fruits, and vegetables.”(CYWH Staff)  At nice restaurants, everything is cooked right then, not precooked then warmed up. It is freshly made and cooked. Fast food places are the fastest at earning money than any other businesses in the economy. Fast food is so convenient and cheap that’s why everyone eats it. 
  6.              "Everybody likes value. Getting more of something for your money isn't a bad idea. You like to do that when you buy an automobile or clothing or laundry detergent or anything. But when the incentives are set up in a way that offers value for unhealthy food, it's a problem. If you buy the big bag of Cheetos, you get a better deal than if you buy the little bag. A big Coke is a better deal than a little Coke. But if you buy six apples, you don't always get a better deal than if you buy three." (Brownell)   "According to this Google map, there are close to 50,000 fast food chains across the United States, with McDonalds being the largest restaurant chain. In the world, there are more than 500,000 fast food places. Kids between the ages of 6 and 14 eat fast food 157,000,000 times every month. Ninety-six percent of kids in school could recognize an image of Ronald McDonald, the face of McDonalds. The only recognizable figure that ranked higher was Santa Claus. To top it off, Americans spend nearly $100 billion on fast food every year,” (Ransohoff) The prices are agreeable and so people think it’s worth it. Although health wise, it’s definitely not worth it. It’s extremely easy to get people to buy and eat fast food just because of the low prices. At Taco Bell you can buy a soft taco for under a single dollar, as well as a cheese roll up, burrito, triple layer nacho and more. It's hard and tempting not to go to a fast food places especially Taco Bell when you know you can get so much for not that much money. “The cheap food revolution hasn't just given low-income families cheaper options. It's come at the expense of healthier food. A dollar today buys 1,200 calories of potato chips and 250 calories of vegetables or 170 calories of fresh fruit.” (Bareau Labor of Statistics)          
  7.             Eating such unhealthy food is terrible especially when you get to about your teenage years because it starts showing on your body and inside and that's when it's the hardest to get it off. “A particular hazard is the E-coli bacteria that meat products are susceptible to." (MoneyInstructor) Clogged arteries, high blood pressure, weight gain, and many other things can be caused from eating fast food. By eating fast food all your life can cause you an early heart attack if heart disease runs in your family. Almost all of fast food is NOT grilled, its mostly fried and greasy which is the worst. Eating fast food slows you down mentally and physically. It’s terrible for your body.  “You would have to walk 7 hours straight to burn off a Super Sized Coke, fries and Big Mac. Even indulging in fast food as an occasional treat is a recipe for weight gain.” (Irani)

Super Size Me taught us that fast food culture brings obesity, heart disease, hypertension and more.” (Irani)  “Rapid weight gain and the subsequent change in your body's leptin production is one of the effects of fast food. Once your body recognizes this new level of leptin production as normal, your body will attempt to stay at the new weight indefinitely.” (Teachers) “Junk foods often have too much salt. There's a lot of salt already in foods such as bread, breakfast cereals and biscuits and cakes. So people are getting more salt than they need when they eat junk food. Too much salt is unhealthy for the heart.” (Thomas)

                Fast food quality has changed a lot over the years but it’s never been as bad as it is now. Fast food is unhealthy and definitely not good for your body. Would you want to be feeding this kind of stuff to your children?  Fast food is dangerous. What’s in the food and how it’s made is probably the nastiest part and learning about what it is you are eating. The prices are ridiculously cheap because all it is cheaper quality so it’s cheaper prices. Fast food also destroys your body. Nothing about it is good for you. People think,”oh well, I’m already fat or it’s too late now,” which is the wrong attitude to have. You have to be confident and say you wont eat it. You will recognize the biggest changes in your moods and energy. So many changes occur in your body once you start eating healthy and right. The first step to that process though is cutting out all fast food and letting in new healthy foods. It’s a hard transformation but anyone can do it and money is not a reason to stick to eating fast food, saying you don’t have the money for healthy food when you can find many, many, many healthy foods for low prices.
