MSF at the ready for Philippine typhoon - MSF Weekly Scrapbook #51

This week ends on a low note as Typhoon Haiyan makes landfall in the Philippines. We are standing by but very concerned. This week saw our TB Manifesto campaign continue as well as some amazing blogs from our teams in the field. Find out what our amazing supporters have been up to as well.

  3. Earlier today, Typhoon Haiyan/Yolonda made landfall on the east of Philippines. MSF is ready to respond to what is thought to be the most powerful storm to ever. Winds of up to 195mph have already cut off access to some of the country's remote islands and villages. Our thoughts are with all those affected.

  5. The conflict that continues to engulf the Central African Republic still poses a huge threat to the population, with tens of thousands of people unable to return to their home in fear of violence.

  7. The TB Manifesto campaign continues and we've seen a great response from our supporters in drawing attention to the urgent change needed in how we treat drug-resistant tuberculosis. Over 3,000 people have signed our online petition so keep it up!

  9. Hassan's brother blows bubbles that medical #nurse Andy Martin brought along while his mother Zebynisso, 28, still comforts Hassan after he just underwent a sputum induction procedure. He is suspected of having #MDR-TB like his mother. The sputum sample will be examined in the laboratory in the #hospital in #Dushanbe and is vital in knowing which if and what form of #TB Hassan has, and how #MSF can treat him.
