Late night as the Michigan Senate fails on road funding

Last night, June 11, the Michigan Senate met late into the night to try to come up with a deal to fund road repairs in the state. As the night wore on, and the lawmakers continually failed to pass any type of legislation, tweets from tired reporters started to flow.

  1. Yesterday afternoon, road funding proposals in the Michigan Senate started to fail. 
  2. After the failures, the leaders of the Senate decided to bring the lawmakers back in that night.
  3. Some ask, what do lawmakers do during recess?
  4. Other votes occurred in the Senate, but serious action on road funding didn't come up again until  after 9:30 p.m.
  5. It quickly fails.
  6. Another amendment is taken up at around 10:30 p.m.
  7. And it fails....
  8. Then, they go for the big gas tax hike bill at around 11 p.m.
  9. And it quickly goes down in defeat...
