#WomeninSTEM step up as role models during Google+ Hangout & Twitter chat

  1. There's an old axiom that you can't be what you can't see. Perhaps if you think about what inspired you to enter into your current job, or line of study, you'll recognize a role model or two who inspired you to take your current path. That's why NASA and the Energy Department teamed up on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, to host a Google+ Hangout, showcasing women who work in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

  3. Along with the G+ Hangout, women researchers from national laboratories took to Twitter to chat about #WomeninSTEM. Hundreds of tweets were posted within the hourlong chat, and by the end of the chat #WomeninSTEM hashtag was trending in Washington D.C., meaning it was one of the ten most used phrases being used on Twitter at that time. Here are some highlights from the chat.
  4. As questions were discussed in the Google+ Hangout, they were also posed in the Twitter chat.
