This tweet from Matt is what sparked off my small rant.
I should say that Matt is a great guy, personal friend, and was clearly trying to be humorous. Nevertheless, I've heard this sentiment expressed by other theorists.
There is a lot of effort to encourage particle physics experiments to be more open and to share data so that the results can be used more broadly. Understandably, many theorists complain about this. However, they often overlook the fact that they are also producing data that is valuable for re-use or to improve reproducibility. So I took some time to make that point in the following twitter thread.
