SMFS Wikipedia Write-In, #Kzoo2014

Twitter-feed documenting the SMFS Wikipedia Write-In at the International Congress on Medieval Studies, Kalamazoo, MI, May 8-11, 2014.

  1. Before the conference began, Dorothy Kim (@dorothy98) posted blog posts on the SMFS website to spread word about the SMFS Wikipedia Write-In (also cross-posed at "In the Middle"). Twitterers helped spread the word about the purpose of the event and other important announcements by tweeting links and by using relevant hashtags (the official conference hashtag #Kzoo2014 along with #medievaltwitter and #medievalwiki).
  2. During the conference itself, tweets documented some of the questions that arose while revising Wikipedia entries and some of the writing-related issues they sought to address.
  3. Other tweets were a more practical nature, focusing on tools and logistics for creating and editing the entries.
  4. Some of the tweets tracked another goal of the write-in: to add entries for important feminist scholars.
  5. By the end of the conference, a Wikipedia entry for SMFS had been created.
