Cold Rolled Aluminum Strip: An Important Need for Industries

  1. Aluminum strips are one of the widely used products in the industries throughout the world. They are used for a variety of purposes. In metal working, rolling is a metal forming process in which metal stock is passed through one or more pairs of rolls to reduce the thickness and to make the thickness uniform. Rolling is classified according to the temperature of the metal rolled. If the temperature of the metal is above its recrystallization temperature, then the process is known as hot rolling. If the temperature of the metal is below its recrystallization temperature, the process is known as cold rolling. Commonly cold-rolled products include sheets, strips, bars, and rods; these products are usually smaller than the same products that are hot rolled. Cold Rolled Aluminum Strip comes in various conditions like: full-hard, half-hard, quarter-hard, and skin-rolled. Aluminum strip is the most useful and valuable form of aluminum. Because of its exceptional features, attributes and characteristics; aluminum strips are being formed and created in aluminum strip rolling mill. Cold rolling is required to obtain thinner gauges than can be achieved in hot rolling while keeping a narrow strip thickness tolerance. The process is also needed to obtain high surface quality as well as control of the physical characteristics such as material hardness. In cold rolling of thin wide strips, most lateral spread of the strip is prevented by the high friction between the strip and the work rolls in the roll bite.

  3. The places where aluminum strips are obtained are the aluminum strip rolling mill. Rolling processes are of varied kinds. Hot rolling process, cold rolling process and flat rolling process! All these rolling process are of varied types and forms. These mills are used for forming immaculate aluminum strips through trimming and tearing while going through rolling mills in its re-crystallized form. Both hot rolling and cold rolling processes are effective methods, but hold rolling has the capability for carrying higher capacity of aluminum.

  5. Hot Rolling Mill for Aluminum- In this process metal stock is passed through one or more pairs of rolls to reduce the thickness and to make the thickness uniform. The temperature of metal is above its re-crystallization temperature and it is more tonnage than any other manufacturing processes as the aluminum go through hot rolling they are trimmed and slit with circular or razor like knives. Trimming attributes to the edges of the foil, while slitting involves cutting it into several sheets.
Cold Rolling Mill for Aluminum- In this process the hot rolled aluminum strip after being cooled to room temperature, is steadily passed numerous times between series of rollers until it reaches desired measurement and forms into a coil. The process occurs when the metal is treated below its re-crystallization temperature, which increases the strength by up to 20% and enables greater resistance.
