  3. Welcome Back!

  4. I hope you had a healthy and relaxing summer with your families. It is with great excitement that we are starting another year at Stevensville Public School.
First, thank-you to all staff for their work to prepare for our students return. Special thanks to our custodian, Ms. Trish, and to our secretary, Mrs. Noxel, who have worked so hard over the summer to prepare the school for our opening week.
I’d like to welcome all the families who are new to Stevensville PS. We are very proud of our school and our commitment to your child’s education. I’m sure that as you visit and become involved with your child’s education you’ll find that it is a great place to educate your child. Education is a partnership and we value you as a partner in educating your child. There will be opportunities to volunteer and be involved throughout the year. We would like to invite each family to come out Thursday, September 21 to meet staff, visit the book fair and enjoy some ribs. (flyer below) Please also join us at our upcoming School Council meeting on Tuesday, September 27 at 6:00pm here at the school. We will meet in the Learning Commons and this is a great opportunity to hear about what is going on at the school and share your input.
Finally, please see the message below about entry and exit routines. We have a few changes for this year that we hope will ensure a safe day for all our staff, students and visitors. Please slow down and be aware of students, families and staff as they enter and exit the property. We do have several buses so it is imperative the bus lanes remain clear at all times. Thank-you for your consideration.
    Have a wonderful year!

  8. Entry and Exit Routines

  9. Our classes start at 9am and end at 3:20pm. Supervision begins at 8:45am so students should not arrive before this time. If your child qualifies for transportation, you should have received a letter from Niagara Student Transportation outlining pick-up and drop-off locations and times. You may also look this up online at nsts.ca/ website.

  10. Entry:
Kindergarten Students are met by staff and enter at the front of the school in the fenced in kindergarten area on the west side.
Grade 1-3 Students are met by staff in the playground area on the north side of the school.
Grade 4-8 Students are met by staff in the school yard area on the south side (field side)of the school.

New this year: In an effort to improve safety of students crossing in the bus lanes or parking lot,all grade 1-8 students NOT riding the bus will dismiss from the south doors (field side) of the school. This will provide lots of space for students to meet siblings or family members.

    Dismissal:
Kindergarten Students are dismissed onto a bus or directly to a parent or guardian at the fenced in kindergarten area on the west side.
Grade 1-3 Bus students are dismissed to the bus line and students walking or getting rides are dismissed into the yard area on the south(field side) of the school and walk to the sidewalk or parking area from there.
Grade 4-8 Bus students are dismissed to the bus line and students walking or getting rides are dismissed into the yard area on the south (field side) of the school and walk to the sidewalk or parking lot from there.

We will be keeping all doors locked during the instructional day to control entry and exit to the building. This is in alignment with provincial legislation and school board policies. All parents who meet their child at dismissal will have to wait outside at the designated exits as listed above. All volunteers will be required to sign-in at the office when working in the school during the instructional day. If you need to pick up your child early, please send a note to let us know. Please do not call after 3:00pm as dismissal is 3:20pm and the end of the day is very busy with classes preparing for dismissal.

  11. Calling in your child’s absence...

  12. If your child will be late or absent please call the school at (905) 382- 3122 and leave a message informing us of your child’s absence. This process helps us ensure the safe arrival and whereabouts of all of our 310 students.
