How time flies! It is already June—the last month of the school year, which is busy with special events, 3 pitch tournaments, track and field finals, field trips, and Grade 8 graduation plans. Amongst these activities, we are still learning and completing assignments and assessments. Persevere! These last weeks will go quickly and we must not lose our focus despite the summer weather and exciting events! Just a note that there is a PD day at the end of the year, so our last day of classes is Thursday, June 29th.
At present our school organization and staffing for next year is still evolving, but we are expecting to share more information about what staff and classes organization looks like shortly. We don't anticipate knowing student placements until the end of August, but following is some information about our process for student placements.
On Friday, June 2nd (raindate Monday, June 5th), Student Council will be having a Fun Day for all students from 1:00 - 2:45. There will be many great activities for your child to participate in! We ask that you send your child to school prepared for the outside events (hat, sunscreen, comfortable clothing including appropriate footwear). Since Fun Day will begin at 1:00, the second break for students will begin at 12:10. At that time they will eat, then prepare to get into their teams. We are looking forward to a great day!
Research shows that spending some time on DreamBox Learning through the summer will actually improve students success when they return in September. Let's commit to at least one hour per week!
Thanks to Mrs. Vanderwerf, Mrs. deWaard and the Me to We Club for organizing the "I Matter" assembly and honouring each student at our school!
Thank-you School Council and Volunteers
On behalf of our Stevensville students, I want to thank-you for all the work you have done to support our school community. Our students definitely benefit from the fundraising, events and support you provide. So many parents and grandparents come out to help, sort and deliver hot lunches, work at bingo nights, maintain our outdoor classroom, attend trips, drive to games, read to students, and so much more. Thank-you!
