Play-By-Play from The 2014 #DCfaith Summit !

On Saturday, February 8th over 100 emerging leaders from throughout the DC area gathered for the 2014 DC Young Adult Faith Leaders Summit. This is the 2nd year in a row we've celebrated World Interfaith Harmony Week by coming together to empower the next generation of interfaith leaders in DC.

  1. Even before the official program started, our diverse participants excitedly started to meet & dialogue.
  2. But being on time comes with a price...
  3. The summit was hosted for the second year in a row at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints chapel in Friendship Heights/Chevy Chase. LDS community member Chase Kimball welcomed us.
  4. Jack Gordon, a member of the summit organizing committee, gave some background on the inspiration for the event, as well as the work of the InterFaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington. (Learn more at ifcmw.org)
  5. The summit was co-sponsored by a number of local organizations, including the Berkley Center at Georgetown. Their staff/students showed up in full force!
  6. Organizing team member Rebecca Ennen (from Jews United for Justice) gave us the 411 on interfaith dialogue. (BTW The 10 principles referenced are at  http://institute.jesdialogue.org/resources/tools/decalogue/  )
  7. Then we kicked it into full gear with our first round of sessions.
  8. And during break times we found opportunities to chat more with both old and new friends.
