Battleship Potemkin

This is a digital diary of my watching of Battleship Potemkin. Based on it, I imagine a novel film related to my issue, white pollution. Here are the questions to think about: Who are the agents of change? What obstacles do they face? Who benefits from the status quo?

  2. This is the time when the sailors first noticed that it was time for them to speak for themselves. They don't want rotten meat anymore. They confront the authority directly and yet got suppressed. In my film, some people start to notice the drawbacks of white pollution, and they gather to discuss them. These fighters think it's time for all men to think about the harmfulness of white pollution to our environment and reduce people's use of plastics.

  4.         The sailors let the officer check the rotten meat and express their feelings of sickness. The officers, however, reject their wishes and claim that the meat is in good quality. The sailors still have to eat rotten meat.
In my film, the fighters start to reveal to other people the harmfulness of plastics and state that we shall not use plastics again. And suggest that plastic bags should be charged. Most people, however, refuse to change and show hatred to the fighters, saying that it's not necessary to change at all.

  6. The chef has to use the rotten meat to cook the soup. However, no one comes to eat the soup. In my film, though rarely do people come to agree with the fighters' proposals. Some people do start to use cloth bags and consciously reduce using plastic products.

  8. Because of the sailors' resistance of eating soup, these sailors are taken to the deck and covered by a white canvas. The other sailors are ordered to shoot the rebellion sailors to death. At first, everyone obey the order.

  10. However, one sailor shouts out and asking the other sailors:"Who are you shooting at?"

  13.          The sailors start to hesitate. This one sailor's words must have aroused the other sailors deepest sympathy for their mates. They put down their rifles and start the revolution.
In my film, one of the people who previously rejects the fighters' proposal starts to rethink about the proposal. She talks with her friend about it and her friends agree with her that perhaps the fighters are doing the right thing. The woman's friends then talk with their other friends about the white pollution issue. Gradually, more and more people believe plastics is a harmful thing to the environment. People who advocate the fighters increase exponentially.

  15.        The sailors fight against the officers and successfully throw one officer into the ocean. The sailors overthrow the old authority and are able to take control over the ship. They can start a better living and with equal rights.
In my film, because of the increasing of advocates, the fighters start to be able to first charge the plastic bags. This action enlightens people who haven't heard about white pollution to notice the issue.

  17.        People who hear about the uprising gather in the square, yet the troops come and they ruthlessly shoot the civilians. The crowd scatters and the situation is in complete chaos.
In my film, after a period of time passes, some people think the war against white pollution has no effects. Surely, the effects cannot be seen in short term. These people, however, don't have enough patience and they want to give up.

  19.        People die and they have no force to fight back. The troops get nothing to stop them.
The fighters argue against those who want to give up, yet people who want to give up just gain more. People aren't  convinced by the fighters;on the contrary, they only want to find loopholes in the fighters' speech.

  21. A woman's son is injured and the power of motherhood enables her to hold her boy and seek for help. She walk up the stairs and stop running away. Regardless of her own life, she treasures her son's life more.

  23.          The woman confront the soldiers fearlessly, begging them to save her boy's life. However, she's also shot to death. Her death stimulates the people who are hiding. People come out and stand against the troops.
In my film, at the point when people are tired of fighting against white pollution, one extreme case inspires them to continue. In a country, in order to have enough soil to bury the plastics, the government decides to fill a lake with sand and bury the plastics under it. Not only does the project go through a costly and complex process, but also does it diminish a lake. The damage done by plastics is so serious that people start to rethink about the significance of protecting the environment.

  25.         The sailors finally arrive and their arrival signs for the potential possibility to succeed the revolution. After all, unity is strength.
In my film, after the people realize the significance of environment protection, the war against white pollution is doomed to succeed. With everyone consciously reducing their using of plastics, definitely in the future no one will ever use plastics again. By that time, the environment on earth would have been improved notably.
