Business Green Week goes viral!

Business Green Week took place from 15th-19th June 2015, with over 40 businesses across the Bristol region in the UK registered to take part. As the week kicked off a Twitter storm was brewing! Go Green was overwhelmed and impressed by the sheer volume of things that businesses were getting up to.

  1. The Business Green Week concept began in 2013 when Stride Treglown, Business West and DAS Legal, meeting through the Green Capital Partnership realised that they were each running their own internal “Green Weeks” to engage employees in sustainable issues. By compiling the best ideas from these organisations as to how to engage employees in a wide range of sustainable issues from travel to wellbeing and getting support from The Schumacher Institute and Low Carbon South West, the Business Green Week Guide was born.

  3. Read the Go Green blog from the start of the week, when things were just hotting up !  http://gogreenbusiness.co.uk/articles/2015/06/bowled-activity-business-green-week/
  4. It was great to see the wide variety of ways that businesses took part, from sorting rubbish to strawberry picking on a walk, from working at an alfresco desk, to getting in expert speakers and having a team lunch.
  5. On the Friday of Business Green Week there was a Go Green Business Breakfast at Bristol Hotel on the topic of Planning & Resilience where a selection of businesses of different sizes shared how they had engaged their teams to Go Green for that week.
  6. The highlight of the breakfast event was clearly Stride Treglown's film showing of their Man Vs Machine race from Temple Meads train station. It really got people's imaginations going!

  8. On the Friday lots of fun ideas were still coming in and we got concerned that we were keeping people from their work!
