Destination China Summer School

As part of our ambitious vision to be a truly Global BU, students from Bournemouth University had an exciting opportunity to study, travel and immerse themselves in contemporary Chinese culture, education and industry as part of BU's first Destination China Summer School in June 2016.

  4. 18 June: Cultural Visits in Beijing Students touched down in Beijing and began their Destination China Summer School with a visit to Tian’anmen Square and the Forbidden City before tasting a traditional roast duck for dinner.

  6. 19 June: Visit to the Great Wall of China On the second day of their summer school, students had the opportunity to visit the Great Wall of China and explore the magnificent Summer Palace in Beijing.
  7. 20 June: Industry and University Visits In the morning, students had the opportunity to visit Xiaomi in Beijing, which is one of the largest online video companies in China. This was followed by a visit to Tsinghua University's X Lab and discussions with experts.
  8. 21 June: Summer School Opening Ceremony A bullet train from Beijing to Zhengzhou took students to Sias International University for their week-long summer school - an exciting immersion into Chinese culture, business and language classes, in addition to industry visits.
  9. 22 June: Classes at Sias International University The day began with an introductory lecture on doing business in China, followed by another one on 'Chinese Business Law and Policies’. In the afternoon, students took part in a Chinese language class.
