Coachella 2014: 10 things to know about Weekend 1

Conversations about this year's Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival are bound to start with all the surprise guests. Pharrell's seemed to have a neverending stash of special surprise guests; Beyoncé and Jay-Z popped up on different sets; and Justin Bieber showed up to top things off on Sunday.

Pharrell kept apologizing for his performance — the dust was clearly affecting him — but crowds at the festival and at home partaking in #couchella had no complaints whatsoever. With its long list of special guests, his set kept on giving. We'll see what the fans and critics have to say this week when they look back at Coachella 2014's Weekend 1, but we're pretty sure fans agree Pharrell won Coachella this year.

  3. Justin Bieber showed up.

Surprise guests were hardly limited to Pharrell's set. The weekend was full of crowd-pleasing cameo performances. Justin dropped by to dance it up with Chance The Rapper, to Beyoncé synching up with little sister Solange. Jay-Z threw lyrics around with Nas. Slash showed up to jam with Motorhead. And Blondie's Debbie Harry fronted Arcade Fire's cover of "Heart of Glass."

  4. The OutKast reunion set was weird, and social media noticed.

    Actually, even OutKast noticed.

  5. And speaking of celebrities: Leonardo DiCaprio, Fergie, Paris Hilton, Claire Holt, Jared Leto, Lindsay Lohan, Ke$ha, Selena Gomez, Kylie and Kendall Jenner, Lance Bass, Hillary Duff, David Hasselhoff, Aaron Paul, Katy Perry, Steven Tyler, Emma Roberts, Vanessa Hudgens...

Need we go on? (We could...)
  6. Like it or not, fashion is still a big deal here.

Some would argue Coachella has a style all its own. But take a look and you'll see the range goes well beyond #boho.
