  1. Hiroshi Hoketsu may not be the oldest Olympic athlete to ever compete, but he is the oldest competing in the 2012 games.  The current title of oldest competitor was Oscar Swahn in the 1920 Olympics in Antwerp, Belgium.
  2. Ms. Nur Mohammed of Malaysia is not the only athlete to ever compete while pregnant, but she is the first Olympic athlete to be 8 months along. That makes her the most pregnant Olympic competitor ever.   Headlines and recent news story say she was hoping the baby wouldn't kick so much so she could focus on her rifle shooting!
  3. Another interesting international development including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia allowing female athletes onto the country's Olympic team for the first time ever.
  4. You can't mention Olympic milestones and not mention one of America's darlings, Michael Phelps.  He is now the most decorated Olympic athlete ever with 19 medals.  Many of those are gold.
  5. This is an interesting article about other 'firsts' in the London Olympics.
