- EEF held our annual conference, with speeches from Rt Hon Ed Miliband MP, Rt Hon Matthew Hancock MP and Martin Wolf among others including a video message from the Prime Minister. Our Chair for the day was Steph McGovern from BBC Breakfast.
To kick us off, we launched our new video - Manufacturing is the beating heart of the UK economy
At the conference we also published our manifesto - Securing a manufacturing renaissance: Priorities for the next government
- Securing a Manufacturing RenaissanceBritain's manufacturers have set the next Government four key priorities to build on and secure the economic recovery, or risk failing to build the better balanced economy the UK urgently needs.
- Our CEO Terry Scuoler covered it in his opening speech
- Our manifesto included some stretching targets for the next government tied to delivering better balanced growth
Throughout the day, as part of two panel sessions we held a series of interactive voting with the audience.
- In the first panel session we covered questions on the current state of UK manufacturing
- One of our recent blogs covered this subject, highlighting the fact that the UK is in fact an innovation follower. Something we need to change to compete more effectively.
Building a more innovative economy infographicWhy do we need innovation? The economy needs innovation, manufacturers need innovation. See our infographic on how to boost innovation in the UK.
