T-Mac retires after 16-year career

Tracy McGrady announced his plans to retire today after a final attempt at an NBA career last season with the San Antonio Spurs.

  1. After mainly watching a playoff run and reaching the NBA Finals with the San Antonio Spurs this past NBA season, Tracy McGrady announced his retirement after a 16-year career. McGrady is a seven-time All-Star and had his most successful years in the NBA with the Orlando Magic and Houston Rockets.

  3. McGrady was known for his prolific scoring, streaky shooting and explosiveness at the peak of his career (as Shawn Bradley knows well). 
  4. Injuries began to hamper his career shortly after he arrived with the Rockets, in the 2005-06 season he only played in 47 games and in his final year with the team in '09-'10 he only played six games before being traded to the New York Knicks.
  5. McGrady's retirement comes only a few days after Allen Iverson announcing his plans to finally walk away from professional basketball.
  6. Both players will be remembered for their ability to score points in bunches, but also for becoming journeymen of-sorts after reaching the heights of their success.
  7. On teams that didn't find much success with these superstars in the twilight of their playing days.
  8. With both of them eventually competing overseas.
  9. But fans will probably remember the best moments from these players, not the less glamorous end of their careers.
  10. And if anything, they can reminisce on classic moments like these.
