- EDIT: To make it clear in case it wasn't already, it is not acceptable to threaten or harass anyone. This does not mean though that certain people should be allowed to have a perfect picture painted of them ignoring their part in what has happened. This is my attempt to document some key points worth noting for fairness.
- Corrected some grammar and spelling
- Removed a white knight reference as it's rude, and hypocritical - Let's start with the removal of feminist from TIME magazine's 'Word to be banned in 2015' poll.
Of course no one can really ban a word, so why does it actually matter?
Because feminist had the most votes of course. - Freedom of speech? Only if you agree. After a campaign against TIME, the poll was shut down and TIME issued a disappointing apology instead of standing their ground.
- Which Word Should Be Banned in 2015? | TIME2 days ago ... If you hear that word one more time, you will ...
- "Professional" writer for The Atlantic, Rose Eveleth, has gained sympathy for the abuse she received for voicing her opinion on Twitter. While no one deserves harassment and abuse we're led to believe this is because she's just a poor woman trying to voice her opinion amongst the shark infested waters of men.
- You'd be led to believe when reading most pieces by like minded individuals that this was for this straightforward comment:
- Bit childish, but nothing wrong with it apart from implying women are weak enough to feel excluded because of a cartoon shirt. Check out the responses too, no abuse. However what people conveniently seem to miss out are the comments like this:
- EDIT: To clarify the harpoons comment was a retweet, but Rose added a lot of hearts giving it her approval. SarcasticRover became very serious over all of this if one checks - 20-11-2014
Now check out the responses to those comments, do we see a pattern?
Why is that? Obviously neither she or anyone else deserves any threats, but why miss out these comments of hers which sparked the riot when trying to gather sympathy. I think we can work that one out without being told. - I think she should also apologise, do you? Apparently so:
- And if anyone is interested:
Fire Rose EvelethRose Eveleth is the woman that started demeaning a scientist in his finest hour for wearing a T-Shirt that was gifted to him by a female friend who designed and made it. Such behavior is appalling and should not be encouraged.- I think we're getting a more realistic picture here. But was this all of the hate from the SJW? Of course not here's one more which leads beautifully into a shining example of hypocrisy.
- This is Pamela Gay by the way who along with Phil Plait @BadAstronomer (author of a recent article with a lot of "It's just..") didn't seem to have a problem attending a Pimps and Hos party at Dragon Con in 2008. You can still find photos online, hurry though as some are only in Google Cache but you can also find them on archive.org. They started to go around on Twitter last night but...
Hypocrisy, Smoke and Mirrors #Shirtstorm
Let's look at some of the hypocrisy as well as smoke and mirror tactics we've been seeing throughout #Shirtstorm that has become too common in our modern online world. This is not true feminism, which should really be called "equalism" or "humanism" to retain it's true meaning.
