- This area is known for its beautiful beaches, maritime culture and small cottage charm. Brewster was first settled in 1656 and incorporated in 1803. The town was named after Elder William Brewster, a religious leader of the pilgrim settlers. Brewster is home to the country’s first water-powered grist and woolen mill, Stony Brook.
Ocean Edge Mansion was the summer home to Samuel Mayo Nickerson and his family. This 1,800 acre property was originally built in 1890.
