With the popularity of 50 Shades of Grey, the recent sexualized Time magazine cover of a breastfeeding mother, and ongoing media mêlées about pornography, sexting, and getting off, it’s time to assess what the media are getting right, what they are getting wrong, and how we can do it better. The stakes are serious in regard to sexual safety, sexual pleasure, social control, and civil liberties. This panel reviews contemporary media focus on sexuality and how we can improve the messages.
