#U4HumanRights - Human Rights Day 2015

Human Rights Day is observed around the world on 10 December. The Federal Foreign Office, German missions abroad and many more people and institutions all over the world took part in the campaign #U4HumanRights in order to raise awareness for human rights.


  1. Foreign Minister Steinmeier also took part in the campaign and called for participants to stand up for human rights for the entire year.
  2. Our colleagues at the German Embassy in Tokyo also took part:
  3. Christoph Strässer, Federal Government Commissioner for Human Rights Policy and Humanitarian Aid at the Federal Foreign Office, emphasised the universality of human rights.
  4. Maria Böhmer, Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office, stands up for women’s rights:
  5. Michael Roth, Minister of State for Europe, calls for equal rights for Roma and other ethnic minorities:
  6. In New York, employees at Germany’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations and at the German Consulate General in New York took part in the campaign.
  7. Germany’s UN Youth Delegates, Carina and Alex, also posted their messages to mark Human Rights Day online.
  8. The UN Youth Delegate from Switzerland also took part
  9. as did the organisation Schüler Helfen Leben.
  10. Other participants included the German section of Amnesty International and their Secretary General Selmin Çalışkan.
  11. In South Africa, Ambassador Walter Lindner was among the supporters of the campaign,
  12. as was the German Embassy in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
