  1. Towards the beginning of the battle us Germans were all feeling pretty cocky, i mean Staff Erich Von Falkenhayn came up with this great plan that we thought was sure to work. We first started this battle on February 21, 1916 and it only took us a short amount of time to claim some of the French's forts like the Fort Douaumont and Fort Vaux, however the French were a lot stronger than we had expected. And by April the French had recovered most of their land and were able to take back their forts and push back our lines even further. We had lost a lot of men,but so did they. we used flamethrowers to clear land and new deadly gases. However, everything just came to a halt for awhile and we we're at a stalemate in trench warfare. Lives were constantly lost and as time went on food supply began to become scarce too. By December this long battle, of 10 months, finally came to an end with thousands of people dead and injured.
