Will Long Beach be a contender for Amazon's second headquarters location?

Amazon announced yesterday that it is looking into big-city options for its second headquarters location. It's looking to hire 50,000 and will invest $5 billion towards construction and operation of the new digs.

  1. The requirements? It has to be a metropolitan city with more than 1 million people. Los Angeles officials said that they are planning to place a bid.
  2. As for Long Beach? Well, it'd be a long-shot since the city's population is a little under 500,000. But Mayor Robert Garcia still sent a welcome message to the company via Twitter and announced on Facebook that his team is working to become a part of the competition.
  3. However, not too many people were into the idea.
  4. Others were encouraging and liked the idea of bringing more jobs to Long Beach.
  5. It wasn't announced if Long Beach had sent an official proposal, though. So don't start applying for an Amazon job just yet.
