- In this case, Vernon Police Department started what they hope will become a chain reaction of officers in different cities duking it out on the dance floor - or in this case the police department floor.
- The department sent out a tweet last month with a video of Vernon Police Chief Anthony Miranda dancing to Michael Jackson's "Billie Jean."
- The tweet also challenged agencies to join in the battle.
- It included the hashtag #HumanizingTheBadge, which is a movement to form stronger relationships between cops and citizens by making officers more relatable and having residents see past the uniform.
- A few weeks later, Glendora Police Department responded with a double whammy. First, Officer Efren Cordura steps out into a classic Carlton dance (you know the one, from "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air"). Then he turns the whole vibe around to old school funk with some classic b-boy moves set to an old hip hop track.
- They also posted the video on Facebook, which got more than 55,000 views by Saturday afternoon.
- Officer Miranda gave some kudos to Glendora and then extended the offer to other departments who think they have the moves.
- So, do you have what it takes?
