Augmented Reality in Education at ASTE 2013

AR was an underlying theme during the ASTE 2013 conference taking place February 22-26 in Anchorage, Alaska. ASTE is where people interested in technology and involved in K-12 and higher education flock to from around the state every year.

  4. Skip Via started out ASTE with Aurasma in two hands-on sessions, setting the excitement level for the rest of the conference.

Christen Bouffard's project, Planet Walk, is a geolocated AR project is a fantastic illustration of how geolocated AR can work for place-based education can be implemented. This site works in conjunction with Layar to serve information on POIs to viewers along the Anchorage Planet Walk. Walkers can use the layer as they are walking to see where upcoming points are located, and to quickly access more information on the web and watch videos about the particular planets.

  11. The UAF eLearning team created the Cap to show how AR can be used for curation history/research project.
