Pussy Riot Protests Around the World
A Russian court has sentenced three members of punk band Pussy Riot to two years in prison for their part in an anti-Putin protest in Russia's main Orthodox cathedral. People gathered around the world to protest the court ruling.
- Russian state news agency RIA Novosti tweeted out this photo at a rally in Moscow in support of Pussy Riot. The band's trademark colored balaclavas became emblems of support for protesters.

- In this photo, re-tweeted more than 700 times, ex-world chess champion and opposition leader Garry Kasparov appears to be wrestling with security. Kasparov was one of several people arrested outside the Moscow courtroom.

The statue was the site of an earlier protest movement known as Occupy Abai.
- In Montpellier, France, protesters placed a balaclava and a plaque with the phrase "Free Pussy Riot" on a statue of Russian communist revolutionary Vladimir Lenin.
