  7. Have to say I'm a bit surprised by the move. Yes, perhaps they now can access some markets. But it will increase the demansa form politicians and courts.

Now Twitter have admitted they can impose country-specific blocks, they're all but obliged to - or could be held responsible for injunction

  10. Of course in the Arab world and elsewhere this will be alarming. My guess is that Twitter will not block political content in these countries. Prominent Arab bloggers are rightfully worried though.

Is it safe to say that #Twitter is selling us out? http://blog.twitter.com/2012/01/tweets-still-must-flow.html what if the content provider is from the country oppressing him?

I bet anyone $100 that this twitter "censorship" thing will not be applied to anything in the Arab world. Takers?

To be clear, the day Twitter censors a single tweet based on a request from a Mideast government, I will shut down my account.

  17. It's in democracies that I think we will see the first problems. For example with so-called super-injunctions in then UK.

Will the Trafigura 'outing' have happened, if this selective blocking was in place? Depends how robust the blocking is.

In case you forgot, a law firm got a super-injunction, that stopped the press from reporting what had been said in parliament.
