Mandela Day: 67 Minutes of Action

On 18 July, in honor of Nelson Mandela International Day, we asked you what you could do in 67 minutes to help someone else. In reflection of Mandela's 67 years of public service, we encouraged our global audience to donate 67 minutes of their time to community service. Here were some of your great ideas!

  1. @UNDP Simplfy your life! donate *anything* you own that you don't really use or value, to people who will put these *things* to better use
  2. You all recognized that relationships are essential to our well-being, emphasizing the need to listen to others and care for our fellow human beings:

  3. @UNDP take some time to sit and listen to someone. words of encouragement goes a long way, so does a hug and a smile. #67mins #mandeladay
  4. @UNDP Making a small simple difference by touching others peoples' lives yeah! Like motivate, share, lend an ear to listen, support, smile:)
  5. @alzraki @undp A simple action: we can spend #67mins chatting with that old and lonely man in the park, just to make him happy #mandeladay
  6. @Refugees @undp Spend the time to intimately listen to someone. Sometimes, someone just needs to share his/her feelings & thoughts.
  7. @UNDP Smile to every body... smiley faces spread hope in people hearts and increase their motivation to work for their cntry's development:)
  8. @UNDP Getting 67 million children into school!
  9. @UNDP encouraging individuals to share ideas for community service that can be done in #67mins for #madeladay. Happy Nelson Mandela Day!
  10. @UNDP in panama starting a charity drive for a local ngo that works against child labor!
  11. Thanks for your inspiring responses! We hope everyone will work to make every day a Mandela day. Together, we can make the world a better place!
