The United Nations often works with distinguished individuals, carefully selected from the fields of art, literature, music and sports who use their star power to help focus worldwide attention on the work of the UN. Celebrities often volunteer their time, talent and passion to raise awareness of United Nations’ efforts to improve the lives of billions of people everywhere.  

For the 2012 World Humanitarian Day campaign, thanks to high-profile involvement from music superstar Beyoncé, a larger group of celebrities who don't normally work with the UN are joining in.  Take a look a some of the participants below.
