Stanley Cup makes its way through Hermosa Beach
As much a celebrity as the players who won it, the Stanley Cup was the centerpiece of a rare public celebration on Monday in Hermosa Beach. Here's a look at the reaction from local fans, and details from reporter Doug Morino's preview story:
The Kings topped the New Jersey Devils in six games earlier this month to win the NHL championship, the first in the team's 45-year history. The South Bay, a cradle of the team's popularity, has been buzzing ever since.

The ceremonies will be the first official public events with the Stanley Cup since the Kings traveled through downtown Los Angeles to Staples Center during a June 14 parade. More than 250,000 people lined the streets.
Since the victory, the team's popularity has soared - especially in the beach cities, where most of the team's players live. Read more of Doug's story.
