Colorado theatre shooting: Witnesses recount terror, victims mourned

Jessica Ghawi, a native Texan who narrowly missed the Eaton Centre shooting while visiting Toronto in June, died in the Colorado theatre shooting. Friends mourned her and the other 11 victims on Twitter. Witnesses also tweeted their photos and accounts of what happened.

  9. Shooting victim Jessica Ghawi, who went by Jessica Redfield on Twitter, was in the movie theatre and was tweeting shortly before the shooting began.

    The gunshots rung out at 6:23. Had I not gone outside, I would’ve been in the midst of gunfire. (...)

    I was shown how fragile life was on Saturday. I saw the terror on bystanders’ faces. I saw the victims of a senseless crime. I saw lives change. I was reminded that we don’t know when or where our time on Earth will end.
