Avery Edison allowed to go home
- Avery Edison, a transgender woman, made her first court appearance after being stopped by customs at Pearson airport for overstaying her previous visit and detained for a day in a men’s jail before being transferred to a women’s facility. She's being flown home to the U.K. Thursday night.
- Edison's partner, Romy Sugden, has been tweeting from her own account and also on Edison's behalf. On Wednesday, Edison had a court appearance.
- The initial decision to detain Edison, who is identified legally in her British IDs and passport as female, in a men's institution sparked an uproar.
