#myeurope - bmibaby's Instagram campaign

Since August 2011, low fares airline bmibaby has been running promotions in Italy, Germany, Holland, Switzerland and most recently France asking users to submit destination pictures on Instagram. So far (May 2012), 40,000 pieces of visual content have been uploaded

  1. We kicked off our My Europe Instagram campaign by teaming up with Igers Italia.   Instagram users were asked to tag their Italy destination photos with a #miaitalia hash-tag.   Within two weeks we had over 2000 photo submissions
  2. The results were then used for our 1st visual inspiration guide on the bmibaby blog.   We created a plug-in that worked via the Instagram API to pull in relevant destination pictures
  3. Italy was then quickly followed up with Germany - #mygermany
  4. By the Autumn we were being highlighted as an Instagram early-adopter for a brand, especially within the travel sector
