Little Free Libraries

The Village Learning Place brings an exciting and innovative literacy project to Baltimore. Check out the stories below on how Little Free Libraries have brought communities together and learn how you can support this project in your neighborhood!

  1. "What’s the size of a birdhouse, full of possible surprises and about to spring up in north Baltimore and perhaps across the city early next year?

No, it’s not more of the dreaded red light cameras! We’re talking about Little Free Libraries."

  2. Awesome, @thevlp is working with @GiveCorps to create Little Free Libraries about Baltimore! ow.ly/ebwqH
  3. The Village Learning Place is working with Give Corps to raise money to build, decorate, stock, and maintain Little Free Libraries.
  4. BIG LITTLE LIBRARY NEWS

"Scanning the recent news articles about the LFL movement reveals something else, too. More often than not, those interviewed acknowledge the sense of community and collegiality that grow up around the little libraries. From a Los Angeles Times piece on a local LFL: 'It has turned strangers into friends and a sometimes impersonal neighborhood into a community. It has become a mini–town square….' This gets to the heart of what many of us in libraries know: knowledge shared within a framework of caring and familiarity can strengthen communities."

  5. We think so too!
  6. Recently donated some #poetry to our local Little Free Library twitpic.com/arbizm, noticed it was gone (to a new home!) today. :)
