Venezuela's President Accepts Assembly Loss, Calls for PeaceVenezuelan President Nicolas Maduro responded Monday to the outcome of Sunday's National Assembly (AN) election praising the turn out of nearly 75 percent. "The constitution and democracy have triumphed, we recognize and accept these results," said President Maduro.
Venezuela's Right-Wing Achieve Simple MajorityVenezuela's right-wing won a majority in the country's National Assembly Sunday, after a years in opposition. The right-wing coalition, the Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD) won 99 seats in Sunday's legislative election, giving them a simple majority. The ruling socialist coalition, the Great Patriotic Pole (GPP) held 46 seats, according to figures released by Venezuela's electoral authority.- UPDATE: 12:40 am - MUD: 99 seats, and a simple majority. PSUV holds 46 seats. 19 regular and 3 Indigenous seats yet to be confirmed.
