On campus, I am the head orientation leader, as well as the president of an all male acappella group, @ottotunes, and PR director of a first year musical theatre group known as @fypsyracuse. Syracuse University has truly shaped me as a person and the experiences that I have had here encourage me to share my love and passion for this school with everyone I meet. I am so excited to share some of my favorite memories this week, as well as photos from #SUWelcome Week and my favorite places on campus! Get ready - TJ #SyracuseU

  3. If you could tell a new or incoming student just ONE thing about SU, what it would be?
  4. The opportunities that you can take advantage of and the friends you will make at this school transform this place from a college to a home.
  5. What is your favorite thing/part about SU?
  6. My favorite part about SU is the passion that the student body has for the school. Whether it is a student giving a tour, or a crowd of them at the basketball games, an undying love for this school trumps any other school I’ve ever visited.
  7. What is your favorite SU memory?
  8. There are honestly too many to count, but I will never forget the moment I pulled onto campus during my senior year of high school and seeing the Hall of Languages lit up in purple, the Dome lit in orange, and the giant spinning globe. I was like a child seeing Disney for the first time.
  9. Today is the last day of training for the orientation leaders! For the last 8 months, I've been meeting with my co-head OL every week to get ready for the new first years to move in. #SUWelcome Week has a bunch of events like game shows and carnivals. It's an amazing opportunity for first year and transfer students to meet one another in a unique way. Way way back in 2013, I met some of my best friends during this week. Starting tomorrow, we are going to be welcoming one of the largest freshman classes in SU's history. So here we go, ready for another class to write their own story at #SyracuseU! -TJ

  10. Goon Squad is the longest running tradition for move in at #SyracuseU. Over 600 students have volunteered this week to help move in all the new students! Goon Squad is one of the traditions that many of the students at SU have volunteered for to make sure that the transition to Syracuse is the best possible. Here in Hendricks Chapel on campus we have some skits to teach what to do/what not to do. If you're around this week make sure to pop by any of the freshman resident halls to say hi! -TJ

  11. Corrida de Toros - one of the more well known but controversial Spanish customs. When I went to Madrid last fall through #SUAbroad to pursue my minor in Spanish, I didn't know what to expect. I hadn't known any Spanish before coming to Syracuse, but always had the goal of learning a foreign language. The Hemingway in Spain class went to witness one of these events at Las Ventas in Madrid, so I tagged along. Spanish customs and culture taught me a lot about myself. Being vulnerable in a foreign country allowed me to grow as a human because it opened me up to new experiences and ideas that I had never even considered before. Until next time España -TJ #SyracuseU

  12. There's nothing like a little #tbt to remind you that senior year is here. Tonight, the first year and transfer students are participating in Home to the Dome in the Carrier Dome where they take their class photo. Convocation is the only time before Graduation Commencement that the whole class is together at one time under the roof of the dome. Some of my favorite SU memories took place in this dome, whether it was a concert or watching some of my best friends toss their graduation hats. As #SUWelcome Week continues on, I'll be letting you know more about the other things that I do around campus! For now, congrats class of 2020 and 2021 and welcome to Syracuse University! -TJ #SyracuseU

  13. Being in Rent during my freshman year opened many doors for me. Through a first year musical theatre group, @fypsyracuse, I had the opportunity to play Benny. This organization that has provided me with some of my best college friends and memories because it provides non-drama students to perform on stage one last time. Now, I am the PR Director and we have a staff of over 100 students who make this show happen. From designing the set to planning events to clean the streets of Syracuse, we have some of the most passionate and talented students at SU. I'm a firm believer that music brings people together. I'm so thankful to have gotten to meet these people through this musical and look forward to creating this same atmosphere for our next show! -TJ #SyracuseU

  14. Tonight at Citrus in the City I got to reunite with my best friends. This is @ottotunes, my all male a cappella group! We got the chance to open for the Rockette's Radio City Christmas Spectacular 2 years ago, as well as travel the east coast touring in different states. I'm the president this year and it's been such an incredible journey with this group over the last 3 years. In just the 5 years we have been a group, we have done so much from an annual testicular cancer fundraiser to visiting other a cappella groups in New York and beyond. Although I had never done a cappella before, this group of strangers turned into a brotherhood for me -TJ #SyracuseU
