MTV VMAs: Lady Gaga's performance starts with boos, Miley Cyrus disappoints fans but 'N Sync reunion thrills
Sunday night's MTV Video Music Awards was met with confusion, disgust and excitement as a variety of performers took to the stage. See how people were reacting on social media below.
- Lady Gaga opened the show with her new single "Applause," but what caught people's attention on Twitter were the distinct boos at the beginning of her performance. Some people thought it was the crowd while others say it was part of the recording for her song.
- Miley Cyrus came out of a teddy bear to start her "twerking" performance of "We Can't Stop" before going into a duet of "Blurred Lines" with Robin Thicke. Dancers had large teddy bears strapped to their backs as the former Disney star, wearing next to nothing, rubbed herself, stuck her tongue out and made sexual innuendos with a foam finger. Though Cyrus' mother stood up in approval of her daughter's performance, many took to Twitter to show their disapproval.
- But it wasn't all bad. The Internet was abuzz about a possible 'N Sync reunion taking place at the VMAs and MTV didn't let fans down as Joey Fatone, JC Chasez, Chris Kirkpatrick and Lance Bass joined Justin Timberlake on stage for a performance before the now solo star was honored with the Video Vanguard Award.
