Team Pine Valley Martket tops Miso Hungry to advance
- September has been a good month for Pine Valley Market chef Chris McCauley (center). Just weeks after taking top honors at Wilmington's Epicurean Evening, he and teammates Paul Smith and Samantha Smith defeated the Miso Hungry squad composed of chefs Jeffrey Porter, Jameson Chavez and Rebecca Alvarado Parades in the first round of the Got to be NC Competition Dining Series.
- Diners at the event and watching from home were quick to share their thoughts on the contest.
- The night's secret ingredients were Certified Angus Beef and Lusty Monk Mustard, which both teams put to use over a six-course meal diners and culinary professionals then judged.
- McCauley and crew will face the winner of tonight's contest between teams 65 Roses headed by Michael's Seafood executive chef Brandon Stark and the team from Ceviche's under chef Sam Cahoon in the final round to be held at 6 p.m. Sept. 22 at Bluewater Waterfron Grill in Wrightsville Beach. The dinner is sold out, but there is a waiting list for last minute openings.
